Service Packages for Schools
Our Primary and Special School Standard Service consists of the following services:
- loan collection of two books per pupil (with a minimum of 200 books), usually chosen from our mobile library, which visits each school twice a year;
- topic loans - one topic box per class per term (with a minimum of 4 topic loans per term). Each topic box contains 15 books and is loaned for one term, with delivery and collection free;
- our team of professional librarians support schools in developing any aspect of their school libraries, and help to develop pupils' information handling skills;
- book ordering facilities are available to help schools to order good quality new resources at 22 per cent discount.
Our Middle School Standard Service consists of the following services:
- loan collection of two books per pupil, usually chosen from our mobile library, which visits each school twice per year;
- topic loans - one topic box per class per term. Each topic box contains 20 books and is loaned for one term, with delivery and collection free;
- our team of professional librarians support schools in developing any aspect of their school libraries, and to help to develop pupils' information handling skills;
- book ordering facilities are available to help schools to order good quality new resources at 22 per cent discount;
- 'Talking Books' - termly fiction discussion group meeting for teachers and school library staff;
- free entry to our Book Mastermind competition for pupils in years seven and eight;
- Loans of artefacts from our STAR artefact service
Our High and Upper School Standard Service consists of the following services:
- loan collection of 50 books from SLS stock, which can be exchanged as often as required;
- public library card - enabling your librarian to borrow up to 50 books at any one time from Suffolk libraries;
- three days of in-school support from our team of professional librarians to help with developing any aspect of the school library, and to help to develop pupils' information handling skills;
- book ordering facilities are available to help schools to order good quality new resources at 22 per cent discount;
- Training for your school librarian - six meetings each year;
- Loans of artefacts from our STAR artefact loan service
- free entry to our Book Mastermind competition for pupils in years seven, eight and nine.
- Choose four of additional services: Carnegie Medal shortlist books; Greenaway Medal shortlist books; Book-buying trip with 28% discount; SLS library assistant time; training for your school’s library assistant; School Library Association (SLA) membership; additional SLS loan collection; additional public library card.
How much does it cost?
Our Standard Service price is worked out using a formula which includes both an amount per school and an amount per student.

To check if your school has subscribed to our Standard Service, contact your local SLS Resource Centre. Schools who choose not to subscribe to our Standard Service can purchase individual services on a Menu or Pay-as-You-Use basis, details of which are also included in the terms and conditions document.
